eFile FAQ: Individual Annual City Tax Form
 



How do I complete the Individual City Tax Form Entry screen?

To complete and submit the eFile Tax Form, do the following:

1. Log in to eFile and select the Individual Annual City Tax Form.

Eligibility questions for using the Tax Form Entry appear:
2. Answer the Tax Form Entry eligibility questions, and then click Next.

If you do not answer the questions correctly, a message appears indicating why you are not qualified.

If you feel you are qualified, click OK and re-answer the qualification questions.

If you answer the questions correctly, the Taxpayer Tax Form Summary Screen appears where you can choose either W-2 and /or 1099-MISC forms to add:



Click on W-2 Form in Select Form to add and then Click on Add Form buttom.
The following W-2 entry screen appears:

NOTE: You are not eligible to use eFile, if

1. Your W-2 has more than 1 city for Box 20.

2. If your employer has withheld residence tax on your W-2.

3. Using information from your W-2's, complete the corresponding fields on the W-2 Form Entry screen.
Required fields appear with Astreicks at the end of the label.

Certain fields are validated based on required number of characters, dollar amounts, or whether or not they are required. For example, a Federal ID must have 9 digits and be in the form NNNNNNNNN (no dashes).
If you type data in an invalid format, a message appears, similar to the following:
4. After completing the required fields on the first W-2 Form Entry screen, you can do the following:

Add and save one W-2 form A. After entering data from the W-2, click the Save W-2 button.
A message appears:

B. To save the W-2 form and open the Tax Form Summary screen, click BACK.
The eFile Individual Tax Form Summary screen appears:

C. To review and continue the eFile Tax Form, proceed to step 5.
Add and save more than one W-2 form

A. After entering data from the first W-2, click the Save W-2 button.
A message appears:


B. To enter data from another W-2 form, click OK.
Data is saved, and a blank W-2 Entry Screen appears. A number 2 appears in the W-2#: entry field.


C. Enter data from the next W-2 and click Save W-2. Repeat this step for each W-2 form that you want to enter (up to five).

D. After entering all the desired W-2 forms, click Save W-2.
A message appears:


E. Click Cancel to come back to Tax Form Summary screen



F. To review and continue the eFile Tax Form, proceed to step 5.

Clear all the data fields on the W-2 form and re-enter data Click the Clear ALL Fields button.
Data on the form is cleared. You can then re-type the information.
Clear all W-2 or 1099-MISC Form entries and cancel your eFile session Click the DELETE button.
The particular W-2 will be deleted after the following message:

Edit W-2 Form The "Forms Entered" Section has an "Edit" button at the end of the table under "Action" column. Click on Edit to edit your W-2 that has lready been entered.
Delete W-2 Form The "Forms Entered" Section has a "Delete" button at the end of the table under "Action" column. Click on Delete to delete your W-2 that has already been entered.

5. After entering and saving all the desired W-2s, the eFile Individual Tax Form Summary screen appears:

Review the data on the screen and click "NEXT" to enter to City Tax Form screen or "CANCEL" to cancel your Tax return.

6. You will get the Screen which is "City Tax Form" where the amounts to be paid could be changed.

The data is correct and you want to file the return 1. Print a copy of the Tax Form for your records.
To do this, click Print.

2. Click the check box at the bottom of the screen.
   By checking this box, you agree that the tax data you are filing is correct.

   If you do not click the check box, the following message appears:

To close the message, click OK and proceed as instructed.
3. Click FILE.
If no tax is owed, he return is filed and a confirmation appears

4. Click Print to print a copy of the confirmation code for your records.
To close the screen, click Close.
The data is incorrect and you do not want to file the return. 1. Click Delete .
   A message appears:

2. Do one of the following:
   To delete the return, click OK.
All data is erased. To file a Tax Form, you will have to log in to eFile and retype all the data.
To return to the eFile Individual Tax Form Summary screen without erasing your data, click BACK.
The message closes, and your data is not deleted.


Am I eligible to submit an Individual Annual City Tax Form electronically?

Before you can use eFile to submit a City Annual Tax Form, you must complete the qualification questionnaire that appears when you select the Individual Tax Form.  The Questionnaire Screen is shown below:

To use eFile to submit a Tax Form, you must meet the following criteria:
If you answer incorrectly, a message appears indicating why you are not qualified:

The messages vary depending on your answers.

Can I get a refund using eFile?

At this time, you can use eFile to submit Individual Annual City Tax Forms. If your Tax Form shows an overpayment or refund, eFile can not accept your Tax Form. You have to mail the Tax Form to CCA.

What do I need before I begin to eFile a Tax Form?

Be sure you have all the W-2 or 1099-MISC forms from all of your employers.

What if my name, address, zip code or other information on the W-2 Form Entry screen is incorrect?

You cannot use eFile. Please contact CCA and provide us with the correct information.

What should I do if my name, address and filing status changed for the tax year in which I am filing?

You are not eligible to use eFile. To file, download and complete the required paper forms.

What if some of my income is not reported on W-2 and/or 1099-MISC forms?

You are not eligible to use eFile.  To file, download and complete the required paper forms.

Why can't I file for a business?

Tax forms applicable to business entities will be available in later releases of eFile. To file, download and complete the required paper forms.

How will I know if CCA received my Tax Form electronically?

After you submit your form, the following occurs:

Do I need to submit any paper forms if I eFile my Individual Tax Form?

No.

If I eFile, what do I do with my W-2 forms?

CCA encourages you to file and retain your W-2 forms for your own records.

Is there a fee to use eFile?

There is no fee to use eFile

What if I make a mistake using eFile? Can I amend my return online?

The eFile City Tax Form screen is your last chance to review the data and either file it or cancel it. 



Can I get a copy of my return if I use eFile?

Yes, by printing a copy of the City Tax Form Screen.  

What if my employment/residence city name is not listed on the drop down list?

If your residence city is not listed, choose Non-CCA city, if your employment city is not listed. Choose the appropriate % City. The % can be found by dividing Box 19 tax withheld by Box 18 wages.

How do I sign the form?

Instead of signing the form, eFile requires that you select the check box at the bottom of the eFile City Tax Form screen:

By checking this box, you agree that the tax data you are filing is correct, and CCA accepts this in lieu of your handwritten signature.
If you do not click the check box, the following message appears:

You cannot file your Tax Form until you click the check box.
